Kona Dream Builds: Jan's Sturdy Process X CR

Alex and Jan from Harz-BnB Werkmeister, a B’n’B for mountainbikers in the Harz mountains in Northern Germany, recently discovered they didn't like to share. "After two amazing Enduro trips to the Alps and Finale Ligure last year, we decided we no longer wanted to share our Process X but get another one so we could go on such trips “equally biked” together! :-)"

They managed to get one of the very last available ones in Germany from Kona Shop Rock Dog and went for a full custom build from scratch, including the wheels. Jan’s new Process X is a mix of new and used parts, no overly fancy stuff but proven parts that make a sturdy build.

The drivetrain is a full SRAM affair with SRAM GX Carbon cranks up front and a SRAM GX AXS rear mech handling the shifting duties.

Suspension wise Jan fitted Rock Shox ZEB Ultimate 170 mm fork with a Charger 3 upgrade to the front and mounted a Cane Creek Kitsuma Coil with a progressive coil out the back. The wheels are DT Swiss EX 511 rims laced to Hope Pro 4 hubs, they are shod with Continental Kryptotal (back) and a Argotal (front) tires.

DMR Deathgrip grips keeps hands where they should be and Shimano Saint brakes ensure the Process X CR can stop on a dime.

The bar and stem are both from Deity, a Copperhead stem holds a matching Blacklabel handlebar in place.

A Deity Speedtrap saddle sits atop a Rock Shox Reverb seatpost.

Alex and Jan produced a bunch of videos documenting the build, these can be found here (in German)
